Job Opportunity

This key position plays a critical role in delivering services in an area of significant growth and development within the northern corridor.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and enhancing Melbourne's waterways, catchments, drainage, and land assets. You will work on meaningful projects that make a tangible impact on the environment and community while ensuring our commitments to flood protection and drainage function in the Upper Merri Ck and Maribyrnong catchments are maintained.

You'll collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local governments, community groups, and first nations' organizations, to deliver impactful programs and initiatives.

About You
  • Effective relationship building skills to facilitate engagement with Traditional Owners, enhancing opportunities to work together on country.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to determine and adapt management approaches for a broad range of waterway, catchment, drainage, and land management situations.
  • Experience in waterway, catchment, drainage, and land asset management, natural resource management, waterway planning, and rehabilitation practices, and statutory planning processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people both within the organization, external organizations, and with the general public, sometimes in conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated project and contract management skills and the ability to supervise consultants.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused, continuous improvement mindset and demonstrated resilience.
  • Tertiary degree in environmental management, environmental science, science, environmental or civil engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Valid Victorian Driver's License
  • Able to pass a Criminal Record check
