About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a pilot project supporting children and young people of service personnel in schools. The post is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund for two years.

The successful candidate will plan, deliver, and evaluate the project, working with children and young people from serving personnel across Midlothian. They will design personalised programmes to build confidence, resilience, academic success, and reduce isolation.

Key skills required include experience of working with students or young people, preferably with those from armed forces backgrounds. A sound understanding of educational youth work approaches is essential.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and be able to demonstrate competence in coordinating services and projects. They should also be able to motivate staff and develop new ideas.

Requirements
  • A qualification related to working with students or young people
  • Experience of running youth groups and co-designing programmes
  • A current driver's licence
  • Sound knowledge of The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
Benefits

This is a fixed-term position until 31st August. The hours are 18 per week, which can be discussed with the employer.

Please note that this role involves regulated work with children. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. Successful candidates will require a PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children.
