Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Plant Diseases Project Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of projects, policy, guidelines and procedures to support biodiversity conservation outcomes.

About the Role

This position will play a key role in the management of invasive species, including plant diseases, weeds and pest animals, to conserve natural values on lands managed by us.

Main Responsibilities
  • Development and implementation of a strategic approach to the management of environmental plant pests and diseases.
  • Preparation and delivery of correspondence, reports, briefings, training, management and communications plans for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analysis and interpretation of data to inform advice, support and recommendations.
  • Development of projects, policy, guidelines and procedures.
  • Increase understanding of plant pest and disease threats and their management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Sound knowledge and considerable experience in the management of plant pests and diseases for biodiversity conservation outcomes, or equivalent experience in an allied field.
  • Evidence of well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills and experience in effectively liaising and negotiating with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed oral and written communications skills, including demonstrated experience in report writing using word processing, spreadsheet and/or database and presenting results to others using presentation software.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake project work with limited direction and strong project management skills.
