About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Communications Design Engineer to join our team at UGL. As a key member of our Rail and Technology Systems sector, you will be responsible for undertaking engineering design work on our Radio Systems Replacement project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completion of allocated engineering design tasks to the required standard.
  • Carry out interdisciplinary design reviews and checks.
  • Assist in the development of Safety-in-Design requirements, Human Factors, Project Hazard Logs, HAZID, Risk Assessments and Risk Control identification.
  • Support other engineering activities to ensure project compliance with obligations and requirements.
  • Assist in the development of requirements schemes based on the Systems Engineering Management Plan.
  • Work with various engineering teams in the development and maintenance of requirements from the Business level to Asset level, to Product level.
  • Conduct Engineering activities as required ensuring the works are completed within specified scope and timeframes.
  • Engage and liaise with all internal and external groups and key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Communications Engineering or equivalent.
  • Communications Engineering certified.
  • Eligible to be a Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • Experience in large scale, multi-discipline projects including infrastructure, railway, Do D, Utilities, Oil & Gas.
  • Extensive knowledge of communications systems including fibre optics, RF communications and other various comms systems.
  • Some knowledge in systems for Electrical Engineering including LV & HV electrical systems, switchboards and equipment selection, earthing and bonding, and protection systems.
  • Proficient skills in design software across the various aspects of the role.
  • Proficient skills in general computer applications: MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Email and Teams.
  • Proficient skills in Auto CAD design software, developing of network diagrams, schematics and other comms drawings.
