Staff Specialist/VMO Role Overview

The role of Staff Specialist/VMO in the Emergency Department is to provide high-quality clinical care to patients and contribute to the education and training of junior medical staff.

About This Opportunity
  • This position requires a specialist-registered doctor with recent experience in emergency medicine, who can demonstrate strong clinical skills and effective communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will participate in the on-call roster, assist with departmental education, and provide leadership to junior team members. The role also involves providing support at other sites within MLHD as required.

Requirements
  • Holds Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Emergency Medicine
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Emergency Medicine at the role delineation level
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership to junior colleagues
  • Effective clinical communication through technology, verbal and written skills
  • Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
  • Available to participate in an on-call roster and respond on-site within a reasonable timeframe
  • Alignment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD goals and strategies
