Product Safety Specialist

We are seeking a Product Safety Specialist to lead the design and national implementation of a Recall Policy and Clinical Risk Framework.

This specialist will oversee the rollout of a centralised Recall Management System across all sites, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and procurement strategies.

  • Develop and implement a Recall Policy and Clinical Risk Framework, incorporating governance and escalation protocols.
  • Manage the implementation of a centralised Recall Management System, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Provide clinical risk liaison support across departments, offering expert advice on recalls and adverse events.
  • Support hospitals with training and education on the new system, ensuring effective adoption.
  • Oversee ongoing reporting and risk-informed lifecycle management, ensuring compliance and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with product recalls in a clinical setting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of medical devices (consumables, implants, equipment).
  • Clinical assessment and critical thinking skills to determine severity and required actions for recall-related events.
  • Leadership experience in organisational change and system implementation within a healthcare environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across clinical and non-clinical domains.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively under pressure.
  • Able to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Direct experience in a clinical hospital setting, particularly within procurement, supply chain, or risk management.
  • Familiarity with product recall processes, TGA notifications, and national/international regulatory frameworks.
  • Project management experience with system implementations or clinical risk projects.
  • Experience in change management and training large stakeholder groups.
