R&D Tax Manager

The Research and Development team at BDO Australia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join as an R&D Tax Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and industry sectors, providing an excellent platform to build upon your technical abilities and strengthen consulting, leadership, and managerial skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the R&D tax claims for a range of clients from start-ups to multi-nationals across key industries.
- Act as the primary contact for finance and technical personnel to collate information and build successful relationships.
- Apply the law to identify and scope eligible R&D activities and expenditure for an organisation.
- Advise clients around government grants and tax incentives.
- Review project technical and expenditure workpapers in line with our quality processes.
- Mentor and work with junior personnel to support their professional development.
- Document and/or supervise the documentation of R&D activity in accordance with guidelines.
We are seeking an individual who enjoys learning, embraces challenges, and has a broad interest in wide-ranging topics, such as science, engineering, law, technology, or commerce. The primary focus of this consultancy role is to assist clients in obtaining and maximising the benefit from a range of incentives available to industry, including R&D tax incentives and other grants.
Ideally, you would have the technical experience and be looking for the right environment to grow your career and leadership capabilities. In addition to succeed, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in STEM, Software Engineering, Commerce, or Law (or related disciplines).
- Demonstrated experience in R&D, preferably in Big 4 or Mid-tier environment.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects and collaborate with the team to deliver results.
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with an interest in innovation and a growth mindset.
- Experience with ATO and Aus Industry reviews and audits is highly regarded.
