Senior Mental Health Clinician Job

This is a leadership role in our suicide prevention and postvention service. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical oversight and care coordination to individuals experiencing suicidal distress or identified as at risk.

The Senior Mental Health Clinician will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical professionals to deliver a person-centred, outreach model of care.

  • Provide guidance on risk assessments, clinical reviews, and safety planning.
  • Manage a reduced caseload to maintain direct clinical engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with emergency and community services to reduce suicide risk and improve health outcomes.
About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective clinical strategies to support individuals at risk of suicide.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with leadership experience in community mental health.
  • Confident in complex risk assessment, safety planning, team supervision, and supporting non-clinical staff with clinical decision-making.
  • Sound knowledge of mental health frameworks, including the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.
