Job Description:

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions is seeking a highly skilled Marine Mammal Conservation Specialist to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating seafood and other marine industry interactions with marine protected species, particularly marine mammals.

The role involves conducting population and ecological studies of marine protected species to inform conservation and management. This includes working closely with stakeholders, including primary industries, regional communities, and government agencies, to develop and implement effective conservation strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on marine mammal populations and their habitats">
  • Develop and implement conservation plans and strategies in collaboration with stakeholders">

The successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check prior to commencement. Australian residency or a current works permit is also required.

This is a full-time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week. You will need to possess a current driver's licence and be willing to drive, as well as participate in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery activities as required by government agencies.
