Senior Research Scientist

Job Title: Senior Research Scientist

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher to undertake fundamental machine learning research in the Australian Institute for Machine Learning.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake cutting-edge machine learning research projects aligned with one or more of the following themes: Tackling misinformation, Safe AI in the real world, Diverse AI, or AI that can explain its actions.
  • Conduct original research and publish papers in top-tier machine learning and/or computer vision conferences or journals.
  • Develop and apply advanced deep learning techniques, including transformer networks, implicit neural functions, graph neural networks, probabilistic graphical models, and causal inference.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of researchers, industry partners, and academic staff to achieve research objectives.
  • Communicate scientific ideas effectively to an expert audience through presentations, publications, and other means.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Programming experience in Python, C++, or other relevant languages, including deep neural networks.
  • Strong mathematical capability, especially for tackling misinformation theme.
  • Experience and knowledge in deep learning and one or more of the following areas: transformer networks, implicit neural functions, graph neural networks, probabilistic graphical models, and causal inference.
  • Outstanding publication record in top-tier machine learning and/or computer vision conferences or journals.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a broader team.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
