Electrical Engineering Technician

An Electrical Engineering Technician is a vital component in the execution of electrical projects and maintenance services within an electrical company.

Working under the guidance of experienced technicians and engineers, you will assist in the installation, upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems in residential and commercial settings. Your technical expertise and attention to detail will contribute to ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing wiring diagrams for efficient system setup
  • Conducting thorough component testing and fault finding to diagnose issues effectively
  • Assembling and thoroughly testing machines to ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnosing faults on client machines via remote connections, providing swift resolutions
  • Offering electrical support to the rest of the engineering team, promoting seamless collaboration
  • Supervising the installation (mechanical and electrical) and commissioning of machines, guaranteeing smooth operations
  • Delivering comprehensive user training sessions, enhancing skills and productivity
  • Maintaining remote connections to diagnose problems efficiently
  • Estimating materials costs and quantities accurately, streamlining project planning
  • Undertaking planned maintenance tasks, ensuring prolonged system lifespan
  • Designing and installing electrical panels, circuitry on substations, switchgear, cabling systems, and motor control centers, MV switchgear, to meet high standards
  • Completing documentation to a high standard, including the writing of service reports, for transparency and accountability
  • Representing the company professionally, assisting customers to the best of abilities, building trust and rapport

Requirements:

  • Education: A degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field is preferred, but relevant work experience or certifications may also be considered
  • Experience: Previous experience in electrical maintenance, repair, or installation is advantageous
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, understanding electrical systems, and utilizing various electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Knowledge of Codes and Regulations: Familiarity with local and national electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work performance
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues
  • Safety Consciousness: A commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following safety protocols
  • Physical Ability: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights
