Job Summary:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of nutritious and appetizing meals for residents according to dietary requirements and menu specifications.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, maintaining a clean and organized dishwashing area.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to support chefs and cooks in the cooking process, ensuring smooth kitchen operations.
  • Assist in the receipt, storage, and rotation of food supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and reporting shortages.
  • Adhere to food safety standards, infection control measures, and other relevant guidelines in an aged care setting.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members to create a positive and efficient work environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Capacity to handle physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting/moving heavy items.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
