The Role
The Logistics Sustainment Officer supports the end-to-end supply chain processes for repairable items at Joint Logistic Unit (North Queensland). This includes consultation with internal and external stakeholders, such as military personnel, fleet managers, and industry partners providing warehousing and maintenance services. The role involves supervision and leadership, coaching, and training of a small team. The Logistics Sustainment Officer is required to conduct analysis and manage a large amount of data, utilizing spreadsheets and reports.

About our Team
Joint Logistics Unit (North Queensland) is an enthusiastic and caring mix of military and civilian employees who are passionate about supporting soldiers, sailors, and aviators across North Queensland. The team is made up of people with a range of backgrounds, skillsets, and experiences, all drawn together by the desire to support the work of the ADF. The unit is dedicated to delivering essential logistics services, including warehousing, distribution, equipment maintenance, and clothing store support to enable military operations.

Key attributes, knowledge, and experience we are looking for:

  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and innovative;
  • Experience in a similar role, particularly logistics, warehousing, and/or inventory;
  • Ability to coordinate the workflow of a small team, including monitoring work practices, setting priorities within the work area, and developing local procedures;
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative matters;
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize a changing workload and negotiate an outcome;
  • Assist in the delivery of projects under the direction of higher classification levels;
  • Coach employees, identify training needs, provide quality assurance of work, and the provision of constructive feedback on performance;
  • Contribute new ideas and maximize the benefits of change, including the identification of opportunities to improve the efficiency of business processes.
