Job Description

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in leading major projects from early concepts to commissioning. You will collaborate with top talent and see your designs make a real-world impact.

  • You will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical design complies with relevant regulations, codes, industry best practice, and company standards.
  • Develop detailed calculations for equipment selection, datasheets, equipment lists, piping lists, utility consumption lists, lubrication schedules, tie-ins schedules, capital spare schedules, bills of materials, and all mechanical engineering deliverables.
  • Support designers and review 3D models, plot plans, layout drawings, general arrangements, plan and profile, design drawings, liner drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction drawings.
  • Manage equipment packages including specifications, requisition packages, technical clarifications, bid tabulation, evaluation, recommendation, reviewing vendor data, resolving technical queries, participating in inspection, and factory acceptance test.
  • Contribute to project reviews, including design reviews, functional safety reviews, risk reviews, cost estimate and schedule reviews, and other relevant technical reviews.
  • Deliver all mechanical discipline scope and deliverables within the allocated budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and functions for scope development, squad checks, and provide general support to the project under the direction of the project lead.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required. Experience as a mechanical engineer in the mining or heavy industry is essential. Concept design, FEED, and detail design experience is required. Construction, commissioning, operations, or maintenance experience is beneficial. Dry and wet process plants, slurry pumping and piping systems, and materials handling systems knowledge is highly regarded. Ability to perform detailed calculations to specify and size material handling and minerals processing equipment is required. FEA and Solids Modelling skills are a plus. Overland conveyor design and chute design using DEM experience is highly valued.
