About the Role

We are seeking experienced Domestic Violence Specialist Workers to join our Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) in the Artarmon office. The successful candidates will provide high-level advice to clients referred to WDVCAS, ensuring the program is relevant, accessible, and responsive to women and children experiencing or at risk of domestic and family violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact clients in a timely and appropriate manner, conducting threat assessments and undertaking safety planning to address immediate safety needs.
  • Liaise with the SAM Coordinator to ensure clients assessed as 'at serious threat' are placed on the agenda for the next SAM when necessary.
  • Accept electronic referrals from the Central Referral Point and non-electronic referrals direct from government agencies and non-government services.
  • Assist the SAM Coordinator in developing and administering policies, systems, and processes for the effective operation of WDVCAS and SAMs.
  • Attend court days as required to provide information, assistance, and court advocacy for clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key partners, including NSW Police Force, Local Courts, legal representatives, and referral agencies.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic and family violence, its complexities, and consequences.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic violence and other related issues.
  • Strong ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis and provide appropriate, trauma-informed support.
  • Ability to deliver services in accordance with the WDVCAP model of service delivery outlined in the WDVCAP Service Agreement.
  • Ability to work with the local community to promote awareness of domestic and family violence and WDVCAS service.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills.
  • Great organisational and administrative skills.
  • Current NSW Driver's License and access to an insured vehicle.

CatholicCare also provides responses to fathers who have caused harm to their family through violence or the use of coercive controlling behaviours.
