Job Title: Secondary School Music Teacher - Instrumental

 

The role of an instrumental music teacher in a secondary school setting is to provide high-quality music instruction to students. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of various musical styles and the ability to instruct both individuals, small groups, and choirs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide weekly singing/voice instruction in small groups and individual settings.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of an effective music program for students.
  • Support ensemble directors as needed.
  • Form and run a school choir that performs at school events.
  • Supervise students during rehearsals and while performing, as agreed upon with the Music Performance Coordinator.
  • Participate in activities such as staff meetings, school concerts, and performances as required.
  • Undertake other duties assigned by the college administration.

 

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Aptitude for working in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrated competence and experience as an instrumental (voice) instructor.
  • Sound knowledge of various musical styles.
  • Ability to instruct both individuals, small groups, and choirs.
  • High-level oral and written communication skills, including the capacity to develop constructive relationships with students, parents, and other staff.
  • Commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of music department activities and ongoing professional learning and growth.
