The Data and Insights Branch is responsible for evolving the way data, analytics, and research inform policy development, service delivery, and wellbeing outcomes.

We foster a culture of curiosity in data and research, establishing processes that enable better understanding and serving the needs of veterans and their families.

Section Overview

The Data & Actuarial Analytics Section engages in developing strategic projects with high-profile and high-value to the Department. We use longitudinal data and advanced analytics across predictive modelling and free text analytics projects.

We work collaboratively with experts to analyse and interpret actuarial results, supporting evidence-based policy development.

Duties
  • Contribute to longitudinal data and predictive analytics to analyse and interpret actuarial results.
  • Apply machine-learning algorithms and packages for text mining.
  • Contribute to data linking and analysis activities to build a more complete picture of the veteran experience.
  • Enhance and update micro-simulation models.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and support business intelligence using Tableau.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of new policies in improving outcomes for veterans.
