Casual Heritage Services Officer

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Casual Heritage Services Officer to join our team.

You will play a key role in preserving the stories of our region by assisting visitors and researchers to access and understand our collection.

The Kim barne thaliyu | Heritage Services, Geelong Library is Victoria's largest regional archive and heritage resource centre. We safeguard and provide access to permanent public records – from newspapers and maps to photographs, manuscripts, and more.

We are looking for motivated team members to help our community connect with history while safeguarding the collection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist visitors and researchers to access and understand the collection.
  • Support archival work including cataloguing, digitising, and preserving items.
  • Respond to research enquiries online and in person.
  • Deliver friendly, professional customer service every day.
About You:
  • You must have strong customer service skills and a people-first approach.
  • You should be comfortable with digital systems, databases, and technology.
  • You need to have great attention to detail and care when working with heritage materials.
  • You should have enthusiasm for history and community connection.
  • You must hold a Victorian Certificate of Education or equivalent.
Selection Criteria:
  • You must have working rights to work in Australia.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Employee Victorian Working with Children Check and national police check prior to commencement.
