Head of Special Education Services

A permanent position as the Head of Special Education Services is available at Haigslea State School. The role involves promoting and developing an inclusive culture across the school community to ensure equity and excellence for all students.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Developing and supporting high-quality teaching and effective adjustments in line with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Providing advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
  • Leading and managing the Special Education Program to provide advice and support to staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and coordinating the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program.
  • Providing high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
  • Coordinating and providing intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.

  • Relevant qualifications and experience in special education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with staff and stakeholders.
