Job Title: Compensation Specialist
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to lead our payroll function, ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have expertise in payroll strategy, team management, and collaboration with business leaders to support workforce planning.
Main Responsibilities:- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing and manage time/attendance through advanced systems.
- Foster the growth and development of payroll staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
- E nsure adherence to Modern Awards, EBAs, Fair Work, ATO, Superannuation, WorkCover, and Payroll Tax requirements.
- Effectively manage subcontractor payments and payroll allocations.
- Partner with finance, HR, rostering, and operations teams to resolve complex payroll queries.
- Drive enhancements to payroll systems, automation, and process improvements.
- Present clear executive reporting.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive payroll policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Stay up-to-date with legislative changes and implement necessary payroll updates.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Provide actionable payroll analytics and insights to inform strategic business decisions.
- Maintain a robust control environment, safeguarding payroll data privacy and security.
- 8+ years of experience in payroll, including 3+ years in a senior leadership position.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Humanforce, Employment Hero, or similar payroll systems.
- Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, Modern Awards, and complex remuneration structures.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
- A solutions-oriented individual who can thrive under pressure.
- Industry experience in aviation, FIFO, emergency services, or construction payroll highly valued.
