Sydney, New South Wales, Australia beBeeQuantum Full time $150,000 - $170,000
Job Title: Senior Scientist, Quantum Sensing

We are seeking a skilled professional to develop advanced magnetometers that can operate reliably in harsh environments.

This role involves working closely with experts in quantum sensing to design and test new state-of-the-art magnetometers and auxiliary hardware that can solve pressing challenges in various industries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of these environments on sensor operation.

  • Join our team of experts in quantum sensing to develop cutting-edge technology compatible with miniaturisation, flight qualification, and field deployment.
  • In collaboration with research engineers, software engineers, hardware engineers, and mechanical engineers, develop advanced quantum magnetometry and auxiliary hardware based on the latest technology.
  • Design, develop, test, and characterise sensor design modifications to improve performance in challenging environments.
  • Work closely with technical leadership to plan and execute internal hardware and capability development programmes.
  • Liaise with academic and industry partners to support business and product development.
  • Share your expertise and results with stakeholders through presentations and written reports.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent industry experience in atomic, molecular, and optical physics or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with hardware similar to that found in quantum sensors.
  • Expertise in atomic sensor design, construction, operation, and characterisation.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for numerical simulations, data logging, and analysis.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to a wide audience.

Bonus skills include:

  • Experience with alkali vapour cells in quantum magnetometers.
  • Experience deploying quantum sensors in field trials.
  • Interdisciplinary experience working with R&D scientists and engineers.
