Senior Automation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation Engineer to join our team at BD. As a key member of our Intelligent Automation group, you will be responsible for developing and implementing process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, and improve product quality.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with DTO Intelligent Automation leadership and technical systems engineers to design and implement process optimization strategies.
- Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate technological solutions.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments, pilot-scale studies, and technology transfer activities.
- Manage external contractors and vendors for process development and technology transfer projects.
- Collaborate with the DTO team members and other required functions to develop and implement playbooks for the implementation and replication of intelligent automation technology solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing engineering, automation design and development, and technology transfer, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in a regulated industry. Additionally, they should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Intelligent Automation solutions and digital transformations, including machine learning, vision and controls engineering, AMRs, cobots/robotics, AI, GenAI, and data analytics.
Requirements- BS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Computer Engineering/Software Systems
- A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in manufacturing engineering, automation design and development, technology transfer, assessment of product manufacturability, industrial engineering, and project engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Intelligent Automation solutions and digital transformations
- Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical analysis
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling the ability to influence decisions based on sound rationale
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- MS Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Computer Engineering/Software Systems
- Project Management Training and/or Certification
- Industry 4.0 Training and/or Certification
- Proficient in process analysis, process modeling and simulation software, and statistical analysis
- Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping
- Knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and PLC
