Legal Practitioner

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Practitioner to join our team at the Department of Justice. As a Legal Practitioner - Family Violence Specialist, you will provide legal advice and support to clients and their support persons regarding family violence matters in Tasmania.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine legal advice and information to clients and their support persons regarding family violence matters.
• Make referrals to internal and external services as required.
• Represent clients in Court and at conferences as a duty solicitor or pursuant to a Grant of Legal Aid funding.
• Liaise with other services relevant to the Safe at Home service system and participate in service development.
• Assist in the development of program policy, legislation, and reports to support law reform and complex legal matters.

Essential Requirements

• Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Tasmania and the relevant Federal courts.
• Current Tasmanian Registration Working with Vulnerable People (Registration Status-Employment).

Desirable Requirements

• Current Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.
