Porter and Kitchen Assistant

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled porters and kitchen assistant to join our team. As a key member of the food preparation department, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency.

  • Clean and maintain all areas of the kitchen, including food preparation areas, dishwashing machines, and storage facilities.
  • Operate dishwashing machines according to manufacturer's instructions and report any malfunctions or issues to management.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized after each use.
  • Properly dispose of waste, garbage, and recycling materials.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when required.
  • Work on a rotational roster and adapt to various duties in the kitchen.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
  • Preferred experience within the hospitality industry.
  • Understanding of food safety requirements and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work various rostered shifts, including early mornings and weekends.
  • Must have existing full working rights within Australia.

Skills:

  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks during busy periods.
  • Attention to detail to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various duties in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be required to work collaboratively with the kitchen team to achieve a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

They must also be able to provide excellent customer service and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Additionally, they must be able to maintain accurate records and reports as required by management.

Due to the nature of this role, the selected candidate must be physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment when necessary.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
