Saw Mill Manager Role

Job Overview

The Saw Mill Manager will lead the safe restart and ramp-up of an integrated sawmilling and timber treatment facility. This complex project involves reinstalling new equipment and establishing production systems to meet domestic and international supply contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop a comprehensive plan for restarting the sawmill and treatment facility, ensuring all aspects are well-coordinated and executed on time and within budget.
  2. Implement modern control systems, automation, and data analytics tools to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  3. Manage contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  4. Plan and coordinate daily/weekly production schedules in collaboration with the Plantation Manager and Sales & Logistics teams.
  5. Hire a skilled team to support safe and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Forestry, or comparable discipline.
  • Or extensive equivalent industry experience.
  • Greater than 10 years in wood products manufacturing, including 3 years leading a sawmill, treatment plant, or comparable heavy process restart/greenfield deployment.
  • Demonstrated success commissioning new equipment and implementing technology-driven change.
  • Expert knowledge of timber treatment processes (CCA, ACQ, LOSP) and Australian/New Zealand and export standards.
