Linux Security Professional

Enhance the security foundation for Ubuntu and its users to operate securely.

This includes:

  • Collaborating with engineers in the Security Hardening team to achieve various Security certifications
  • Extending and enhancing Linux cryptographic components (OpenSSL, Libgcrypt, GnuTLS) with features and functionality required for FIPS and CC certification
  • Collaborating with external security consultants to test and validate kernel and crypto module components
  • Working with partners to develop security hardening benchmarks and automation tools
  • Contributing to Ubuntu mainline and upstream projects to land solutions and benefit the community
Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs, excellent software engineering fundamentals, including prior experience with C development, and knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals.

Key skills include:

  • Hands-on experience with Linux system administration and shell scripting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals + direct experience writing secure code
  • Significant development experience working with open source libraries
  • Prior experience working on FIPS/Common Criteria certified products and in-depth knowledge of underlying standards
