Technical Lead for Global Software Development

This is a unique chance to lead a team of talented engineers, working on technology that impacts men's health globally. Our software processes over $90M in donations annually across 19 countries.
We use Node.js, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, AWS (including Lambda), and PHP. We're migrating from a monolith to a composable, domain-driven architecture, using AI-augmented development with Claude Code and Windsurf.
Key Responsibilities- You'll empower developers to deliver their best work by balancing deep technical expertise with genuine people mentorship.
- You'll lead your team through high-stakes periods, ensuring our global community can fundraise without friction during campaign season.
- You'll shape how we integrate AI into our development processes, making our small team punch well above its weight.
- You'll think 6–12 months ahead, balancing short-term needs with long-term sustainability.
- You'll collaborate with Product and Marketing to translate donor-experience visions into technical reality, architecting solutions for payment processing that handle 100x traffic spikes across 19 regulatory environments.
- 8+ years software development experience with 3+ years in senior/lead roles.
- 5+ years' experience developing across the full stack, including NodeJS / React / JavaScript / TypeScript.
- Proven experience with high-traffic web platforms and large-scale, high-availability systems.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems using AWS Lambda.
- Deep understanding of monitoring, observability, and incident response for production systems.
- Strong understanding of automated pipelines, CI/CD, and AWS CodePipeline.
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and PCI DSS compliance.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tooling.
- Advanced prompt engineering for code generation, RAG system design & AI system architecture.
- Experience with AI/ML implementation and architectural principles.
- Experience with AI-powered personalisation and content generation.
- Experience with headless CMS.
