We are seeking highly skilled Payroll Officers to join our team in the Human Resources (HR) Frameworks Branch. As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for processing payments of salary and related allowances to staff employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (MOP(S) Act) using the SAP payroll system.
You will also be required to administer MOP(S) Act staff commencements and cessations, including updates to relevant databases and systems. Additionally, you will respond to requests for advice from MOP(S) Act staff, in relation to pay and conditions of service, either through direct contact with clients or through the Staff Help Desk.
About the TeamThe HR Service Delivery Team is responsible for the management and administration of payroll, systems, and processes associated with human resources data and reporting. We work closely with a range of stakeholders, including other government departments and agencies, to provide HR services to staff of parliamentarians employed under the MOP(S) Act.
About the OpportunityWe have several vacant positions at various levels in the HR Service Delivery Team. As a Payroll Officer, you will be required to work with your team and be accountable for meeting strict deadlines, organising your own workload, and making decisions within defined parameters.
Eligibility and Security ClearanceUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold, the required security clearance level for the role.
