About the Role

This position is responsible for providing technical support to the Senior Mining Surveyor in the conduct of all underground mine survey activities, to appropriate standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in developing the mine technical services survey team.
  • Playing a hands-on role in the day-to-day activities of the mine technical services section.
  • Liaising with the geology and mine production sections to coordinate and implement daily, weekly, and longer-term project work for the survey team.
  • Planning and undertaking underground development heading set out and face markups, laser installations, void pickups, subsistence/deformation monitoring, EOM survey, computation, processing, and reporting.
  • Assisting the open pit survey team when required.
  • Helping develop new and review current procedures and safe work practices within the technical services section.
  • Contributing to short and longer-term planning activities when required, including helping maintain the Survey plan and document filing system and library and playing a hands-on role in survey set out, mine development, and other projects on site.
  • Championing the company's values and commitment to safety, environment, inclusion, and diversity, and emissions reduction.

About You

The ideal candidate should have a recognized tertiary qualification or a TAFE or advanced diploma, with previous underground survey experience. You must be willing to work within the mine survey team and in an underground mining environment. You will have had some exposure to modern survey instrumentation, practices, and possess the associated computer skills. Prior exposure to Deswik software is highly desirable, but not a requirement. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is having a willingness to learn and progress within the organization.
