About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Officer to join our team at Darebin City Council. As a key member of our Building Services Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality building compliance functions and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the delivery of building compliance functions for Swimming Pools and Spas, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records and reporting.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, administrative, and clerical support to our customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the delivery of service improvements, working closely with the Municipal Building Surveyor and Building Services Lead to establish a high-performing team.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records, reporting, and advice are provided to the public and Council staff.
Requirements
  • Well-developed administrative, organisational, and customer services skills and experience.
  • High level computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, with knowledge of Pathway, Objective, and GIS desirable.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to develop processes and solutions, and assess service performance to identify methods for improvement.
  • Experience working in a local government building or compliance unit or related public sector area highly regarded.
