Job Opportunity: Environmental Services Ranger

This exciting role presents a unique chance to work within the Environmental Services department, contributing to the maintenance of our local environment.

Your key responsibilities will involve providing regulatory services to the community, encompassing animal control, parking enforcement, stock management, and general environmental duties within our designated area.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Animal Control - conducting patrols, seizing unrestrained animals, issuing fines, and providing education to the community
  • Local Law Enforcement - investigating and responding to regulatory matters in accordance with relevant legislation
  • Parking Enforcement - conducting foot and vehicle-based operations to ensure compliance within our area
  • Stock Management - investigating complaints, issuing infringements or cautions as per relevant legislation
  • Vehicle Impoundment - arranging sale or return as necessary
  • Environmental Monitoring - inspecting for compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations
  • Vegetation Management - investigating overgrown vegetation issues and recommending action
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant sections of the Local Government Act 1993; Companion Animals Act 1998; Impounding Act 1993; Road Rules 2014; Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997; Rural Fires Act 1997 and other legislation relevant to the position
  • Previous experience working as a Ranger or in a law enforcement role
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to deal with challenging customers
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence and experience in animal control
  • Demonstrated commitment to honesty, integrity, Work Health and Safety, and environmental protection
