About the Role

In this leadership position, you will oversee the operation of a vibrant, multi-purpose arts centre, providing diverse performances, events, and rehearsal spaces to serve local schools and the regional community. Your role will ensure the venue remains a key cultural hub on the Bellarine Peninsula, offering a wide range of arts to entertain, educate, and nurture local talent.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Effectively lead, support, and manage direct and indirect reports, maintaining clear team role definitions and expectations, and a positive team culture.
  • Financial Management: Manage and report on finances and resources of the arts centre in accordance with approved budgetary expenditure, including increases in income and identifying savings opportunities.
  • Community Engagement: Develop a strong network of arts industry and community partners and attend industry-relevant meetings, presentations, and events.
  • Event Planning: Work with the Program & Events Officer to oversee, implement, and monitor a full calendar of performances and events.
  • Strategic Projects: Oversee strategic projects, services, and programs to promote the development of the arts centre in line with the City's Arts and Culture Strategy.
  • Partnership Development: Review, negotiate, and implement partnership agreements.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in team leadership roles and extensive 5+ years of experience in management and operations of a busy multi-arts facility, and/or a tertiary qualification in Arts Administration, Management, or a related field.

Essential Experience:
  • Budget and Accounting: Demonstrated working knowledge of budget and accounting practices.
  • Contractor Management: Experience in contractor management and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety and other guidelines.
  • Problem-Solving and Stakeholder Management: Ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, achieving consistent progress on long-term projects while addressing immediate demands.
  • Communication Skills: Good problem-solving and stakeholder management skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve task outcomes.
  • Writing and Speaking Skills: Developed writing and speaking skills to align with stakeholders and achieve support for task outcomes.
  • Working with Children Check: Current Working with Children Check (employee).
  • National Police Check: Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
