About the Role

The University of Melbourne is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Risk and Compliance professional to oversee operational risk for shared services teams and conduct compliance reviews to ensure adherence to internal and external requirements.

Working closely with the University's Risk function, the successful candidate will manage risk registers and treatment plans, collaborating with IT, Finance, HR, Health and Safety, and Facilities teams to enhance risk understanding and management.

By providing policies, frameworks, and tools, the Risk and Compliance Lead will support managers in effectively managing their operational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification and evaluation of compliance and operational risk management
  • Enhance awareness and understanding of risk management concepts and practices among operational managers
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure effective risk management and reporting, including compliance with University policies and standards

Requirements

  • A degree in business, information technology, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
  • Audit and risk-related certifications (e.g. CISA) are desirable
  • Proven experience in end-to-end risk management and compliance roles, with a focus on IT and/or non-IT operational areas
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

About the Team

The Business Services team provides a range of services to the University, including information technology, facilities management, finance, HR, and health and safety. The Planning and Assurance team works closely with the leadership team to ensure service delivery meets operational and strategic needs.
