Senior Heritage Compliance Specialist

Protecting cultural heritage sites requires a unique blend of technical expertise and strong stakeholder engagement. As a Senior Heritage Compliance Adviser, you will play a key role in ensuring that our city's heritage assets are safeguarded for future generations.

This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver heritage protection and conservation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead heritage risk assessments for capital and operational land use activities to identify potential threats and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Manage heritage service requests and engage with stakeholders to provide expert advice and support.
  • Provide strategic input into heritage risk management and cultural heritage protection strategies to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review technical reports and provide heritage advice to project teams to inform decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of heritage risk management processes and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance and best practice.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in historic and Aboriginal cultural heritage management in infrastructure planning and delivery.
  • Cultural heritage management experience in capital and operational projects, including lead heritage risk assessments and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and manage their expectations through effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • High attention to detail and analytical ability to identify and address heritage risks and opportunities.
  • Degree in Archaeology, Cultural Heritage Management, Anthropology, or related field.
