We are seeking a Cultural Heritage Specialist to provide high-level guidance on cultural heritage and environmental management expertise to meet our commitments across multiple projects within the South Coast Region.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and/or manage assigned projects, providing high-level cultural heritage technical expertise and guidance to support the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of projects.
  • Facilitate the implementation of legislative and policy procedures relating to cultural heritage management as part of project delivery.
  • Provide information and advice to regional staff regarding legislative and departmental policy, procedures, and processes relating to cultural heritage issues, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Liaise, consult, and negotiate with indigenous groups, other government departments, and stakeholders on cultural heritage issues.
  • Attend meetings/forums representing our region on cultural heritage-related matters.
  • Record key information gathered on cultural heritage matters to assist in planning, design, and implementation.
  • Prepare reports on cultural heritage issues relating to projects, ensuring records are maintained, and information is available in relation to cultural heritage issues.

Skills and Experiences:

  • Possession of a degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Social Science, or related discipline and/or at least five years' experience in a comparable role.
  • Membership of professional bodies e.g., Australian Archaeological Association (AAA), ICOMOS, or related discipline.
  • Ideal candidate will have Prequalification on the SPO20/13 SOA 2. Cultural Heritage category.
