About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a clinical mental health setting, providing support to individuals experiencing suicidal crisis. As a Clinical Mental Health Specialist, you will be part of a small team working within the Suicide Prevention Team, including SPOT and Safe Haven services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver support that aligns with the principles of step up/step down care, including making referrals to community-based services and escalating concerns to relevant clinical services.
  • Work collaboratively with peer workers and clinicians to provide a 'no wrong door' approach to support individuals in need.
  • Provide health promotion activities and participate in contact with community groups to promote 'case finding' as part of the service.
  • Work in a virtual outreach setting, providing after-hours care and follow-up to individuals experiencing suicidal distress.
  • Use evidence-based, recovery-oriented care to respond to suicidal crisis, including crisis response, psychosocial support, assessment, safety planning, and advocacy.
Working Environment

You will be working in a dynamic and supportive team environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development. The service operates 5 days a week, with the potential for expansion to a 7-day service. After-hours, evening, and weekend work will be required.

  • Ability to work in a virtual outreach setting and provide support to individuals in crisis.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and recovery-oriented care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
