About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineer at BHP Olympic Dam, you will have the opportunity to continue to develop your career in this complex mining space, while working with a variety of stakeholders across the company. You will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and provide engineering design, assessment, and support to operational teams across Copper SA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety, Safety Leadership, Risk, and Sustainability will be a strong focus.
  • Ensure consistent fit for purpose engineering standards are applied, and conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Global Standards, Our Code, and relevant legislation.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge to support projects, engineering service providers, maintenance, operations, third parties, and contractors to align with Copper SA engineering standards.
  • Review, update, and approve technical documentation, including engineering standards, equipment standards, specifications, datasheets, procedures, programs, and drawings.
  • Validate the content of technical documentation to reflect the "as built" condition as per authorized modifications and changes.

About You

  • You will need a Mechanical Engineering Degree qualification and eligibility to apply for Engineers Australia CPEng registration.
  • Desired experience in various areas, including Pumps, Tanks, Piping, Valves, Conveyors, Smelters, Pressure equipment, and minerals processing equipment, with a good understanding of applicable Australian and International Standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in completing engineering design and assessment, with an overarching drive for Safety in Design.
  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills.
  • Attention to detail and finely tuned problem-solving skills.
