Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Teacher. This is a Temporary Part-Time position, working 0.9FTE from March to May 2025.

The successful candidate will work at St Joseph's Primary School East Maitland, a systemic Catholic school catering to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school is committed to meeting the learning needs of all students, blending traditional and contemporary learning styles in a supportive environment.

The role involves providing support for students and school communities in areas such as curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning, and wellbeing. The successful candidate will share responsibility with staff for the Catholic identity and mission of the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Focusing on support for students and school communities in areas such as curriculum, culture, spirituality, learning, and wellbeing.
  • Sharing responsibility with staff for the Catholic identity and mission of the school.
  • Promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within the school.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A clear understanding of and personal commitment to Catholic Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise assessment and relevant school data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and community members.
  • An innovative and agile mindset to enhance a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Established and ongoing links with the local and/or wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

You will also need:

  • Qualifications as a four-year trained teacher.
  • Being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, which is a genuine occupational qualification for this position.
  • Active NESA Accreditation.
  • Current paid NSW Working with Children Check number.
  • Completion of anaphylaxis training.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Current unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence.
