Mechanical Design Engineer Wanted
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with expertise in mechanical design, development, and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop practical and cost-effective mechanical solutions for complex systems
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring accuracy and version control
  • Execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on user and manufacturing feedback
  • Review and manage bills of materials (BOMs) for accuracy and cost-effectiveness
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimise designs for manufacture and deployment

Requirements:

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in a regulated or defence-related environment
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD Inventor), FEA, and drafting to AS1100 standards
  • Experience designing enclosures and mechanical assemblies (e.g. sheet metal, racks)
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and familiarity with basic electrical/electronic integration
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work

Desirable Skills:

  • Australian citizenship (required due to project security requirements)
  • Eligible for or currently holding Baseline Security Clearance
  • Eligible for RPEQ or NER registration preferred
  • Experience working in maritime or defence-related environments is an advantage
