Senior Software Engineering Leader

This role involves overseeing the development and optimization of software solutions for various hardware platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading teams, technical expertise in Linux distributions and server-class hardware, as well as effective communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of distributed engineers to design and implement optimal software integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Engage with commercial partners to deliver a high-quality, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Develop the team through coaching, mentoring, leading by example, and feedback.
  • Oversee commercial engagements and support timely delivery on agreed project milestones.
  • Evaluate the quality and reliability of delivered software solutions.
  • Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to ensure alignment on product architecture and roadmaps.
Requirements:
  • Expertise in Linux distributions, debian packaging, and server-class hardware.
  • Experience working directly with customers, resolving technical issues, interpreting business challenges, and effectively communicating solution benefits.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple internal teams, building trust and delivering results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technology field.
