We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Instrumentation Technician to join our team at Cadia Valley Operations. This 12-month fixed-term contract position will be offered as a 12/9 roster, with FIFO / DIDO arrangements available.
Key Responsibilities- Perform in-field maintenance and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems based on planned Maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot and address technical issues related to geotechnical instruments.
- Conduct regular maintenance and calibration to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
- Collect and collate data on instrument health and performance.
- Conduct geotechnical risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation measures to prevent slope instability, foundation settlement, and other geotechnical hazards.
- Collaborate with Instrumentation engineers and construction teams to ensure the integration of geotechnical instrumentation.
- Ensure that all geotechnical instrumentation activities adhere to safety standards and guidelines.
- Previous experience in instrumentation maintenance and commissioning of instrumentation monitoring systems (ideally mining specific, or similar high-risk environments considered).
- Demonstrable ability to understand geotechnical instrumentation systems: inclinometers, piezometers, settlement gauges, strain gauges, synthetic aperture & Doppler radar, InSAR.
- Sound understanding of risk assessment processes and techniques.
- Current manual drivers license (essential).
