Developmental Disability Mental Health Psychiatrist Role Summary

We are seeking a part-time psychiatrist to join our team in providing assessment and consultation services to patients aged 14 and above with intellectual disabilities, including autism, FASD, Down Syndrome, and mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive care services through assessment and consultation for patients aged 14 and above with intellectual disabilities
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide multidisciplinary care services
  • Design and run modified cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) groups for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs
  • Attend clinical meetings and provide reports on work completed
  • Be on-call for Island Health psychiatry services
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychiatry
  • Experience working with patients with intellectual disabilities and mental health needs
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
