About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Graduate Accountant to join our Finance Team, providing support in finance and accounting tasks. The role will involve handling financial functions, ensuring compliance with reporting standards, and contributing to the team's success through effective performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial ledgers, ensuring integrity and reliability.
  • Support cash management, treasury, and banking functions, including maintenance of cash reserves.
  • Prepare and lodge statutory returns, reports, and reconciliations, and assist in budget preparation.
  • Provide financial performance reporting, including monthly management reporting, capital works, and other reports as requested.
  • Process general ledger journals, adhering to standard accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with asset register maintenance and data integrity in Council's financial management system.

What You'll Need

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business, or Finance.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems and applications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and statutory financial reporting.
