Postdoctoral Research Fellow

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on an innovative project focused on the interneuron development. As part of our team, you will have the chance to unravel the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying interneuron development, with the potential to make significant contributions to our understanding of brain function and neurological disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
- Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.
- Completion or near completion of a PhD in Neuroscience or related area.
- An emerging profile in research in Neurodevelopmental Neuroscience, including experience with patch-clamp recordings in mice, embryonic brain dissection, and strong knowledge of basal ganglia development.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team toward delivery of required research outcomes.
- Strong initiative in balancing workload between experimental work, literature review, publication preparation, and supervision of students or staff.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems and to be flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing professional environment.
- A demonstrated general knowledge and understanding of equal opportunity principles and commitment to the application of these policies in a university context.
- Evidence of publications in reputable refereed journals, presenting at conferences, and contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.
