Strategic Operations Director for Research Excellence

As the Centre Manager at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, you will play a pivotal role in providing leadership and effective management of the Centre. Reporting to the Director, NDARC, your responsibilities will include developing operational and strategic plans, liaising with industry partner organisations, and managing administrative tasks.

The Centre is a world-leader in research that positively impacts alcohol and other drug use and related harms. Established in 1986, the Centre has been Australia's leading research centre in the sector for over 35 years. With a holistic view of the complex challenges associated with determinants of alcohol and other drug use and associated harms, we generate high-quality evidence across various fields that directly influences harm reduction in diverse populations internationally.

This key position requires a relevant tertiary qualification or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, health, training, and/or experience. You must have proven experience in research management and administration, as well as leading and managing a team. Additionally, you should possess high-level organisational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to liaise effectively with all levels of staff, students, management, and external stakeholders.

  • Developing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Liaising with industry partner organisations
  • Managing administrative tasks and reporting to the Director, NDARC
  • Oversight of other Centres internally hosted by NDARC
