Position Overview

Role Summary:
The Vegetation Management Lead is tasked with guiding the strategic framework and governance of the Vegetation Management initiative. This position requires close collaboration with the Operations team to ensure the effective execution of the Works Program, compliance with regulatory standards, and successful bushfire risk reduction efforts. A strategic mindset, robust leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of vegetation management within the energy sector are essential for this role.

Key Duties:

  • Formulate and execute the Vegetation Management strategy, ensuring adherence to regulations and bushfire risk reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations to guarantee timely and budget-conscious execution of the Works Program.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes, ensuring organizational compliance.
  • Manage audits, address stakeholder inquiries, and uphold quality assurance in Asset Management practices.
  • Assist Network Safety teams in regulatory matters and contribute to submissions and updates.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a cooperative team atmosphere.

Success Metrics

  • Full Accountability:
    • Annual completion of the Vegetation Management program
    • Provide assistance to the electricity Distribution network team
    • Ensure network compliance with technical regulatory requirements
    • Conduct independent problem-solving and manage resolutions for assigned tasks
  • Critical Deliverables:
    • Ensure the Vegetation Management Program is comprehensively understood, documented, and applied by all network teams in a clear manner
    • Overall supervision of risk and consequence assessments
    • Comprehensive oversight of compliance obligations
    • Create and maintain process documentation to ensure traceability of actions taken
    • Sustain the Asset Management Framework in alignment with ISO55001 standards
Ideal Candidate Profile

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in arboriculture with a strong grasp of vegetation management in energy infrastructure.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Extensive knowledge of technical and economic regulations governing electrical networks and bushfire risk management.
  • Operational Background: Familiarity with OH&S policies, procedures, and systems within a utility or energy context.
  • Strategic Insight: Capability to think strategically, resolve complex issues, and drive effective outcomes.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with a proven history of stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.
  • Mentoring Experience: Background in mentoring and coaching less experienced team members.

Educational Background:
