Senior Environmental Specialist

This is a senior role within the environmental and regulatory department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing environmental and regulatory programs.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESHIA) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) with consultants and project teams.
Implement regulatory compliance and environmental management plans to ensure projects are completed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Support the Senior Health, Safety and Environment (SHE) Manager on environmental and regulatory activities and planning.
Secure and track project permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
Integrate environmental standards into project design and execution to minimize the impact of operations on the environment.
Guide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors on environmental and regulatory plan development and compliance.
Review and monitor environmental and regulatory performance and EMP implementation to identify areas for improvement.
Conduct site inspections and report any compliance issues or concerns to the SHE Manager.
Prepare internal and external reports on environmental and regulatory matters.
Coordinate training, technical experts, and stakeholder communication to ensure effective engagement with project stakeholders.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a closely related position and possess a university degree in natural or environmental sciences, natural resource management, social sciences, engineering, or a related field.
Candidates should have experience in the environmental and/or socioeconomic and/or health fields, preferably related to a construction or extractive industry project.
Knowledge of external project financing and specific country regulations is desirable.
