Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking an experienced data engineer to join our team in a full-time and permanent role based at our Melbourne CBD head office.

The successful candidate will lead the development of cutting-edge smart meter applications that power our electricity distribution networks. They will design and build ETLs, data pipelines, analytical tools, dashboards, and reports that enable smarter decision-making and more reliable energy delivery.

  • Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant ETL workflows to ingest, transform, and load master data into analytical stores.
  • Maintain and enhance the business data model to support evolving analytical use cases.
  • Implement automated data quality checks, anomaly detection, and monitoring processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related incidents, working closely with engineering, operations, and IT security teams.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and technical specialists to shape high-level solution designs that meet business needs.
  • Develop secure, high-quality applications, dashboards, and reports.
  • Validate solutions against business requirements and scope of works.
  • Monitor performance of existing solutions to ensure they continue delivering business value.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for ETLs, data pipelines, metering, asset, and network automation systems.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or computer science or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Proven experience developing ETL workflows, data pipelines, and analytical solutions.
  • Strong SQL and database expertise, with a passion for data integrity and quality.
  • Python programming experience.
  • Well-developed statistical modelling skills.
  • Machine and artificial intelligence experience.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and dashboard/report development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple business units.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
