Estimator - Major Projects

At AusNet, we're committed to shaping a cleaner energy future for Australia. As a key player in the industry, we're seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Engineering Solutions team.
Job Summary:
As an Estimator for Major Projects, you'll play a vital role in developing and providing cost estimates for our engineering projects. You'll work closely with our Engineering Solutions team, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely delivery of project cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical cost advice and support to the team and broader department.
- Review technical requirements for High-Level design projects, including project constraints and deliverables.
- Establish and maintain effective communications among project and program stakeholders.
- Manage and review the production of estimations required by the business from project initiation to close out.
- Communicate the status of estimations to leadership.
- Identify technical risks and allocate budget.
- Provide technical guidance on complex problems, applying technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to achieve outcomes.
- Maintain cost and project libraries in estimation software.
Requirements:
- A minimum bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant trade qualification.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously, with a proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Considerable knowledge of other engineering disciplines and their impacts on civil, structural design, and construction.
- Demonstrated ability to create, build, and grow relationships and business partnerships to build effective working relationships within the project team and external customers.
- Understanding of key customer and stakeholder needs and requirements.
- High level of organisational skills, effectively handling multiple tasks, setting priorities, managing timeframes, and meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of various Australian standards, such as civil, structural, substation, and Transmission/Distribution.
- Knowledge of Expert Estimation software is preferred.
- Ability to develop, coach, mentor, empower, and support team members to achieve targets.
