Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Collections to join our team at SMS Professional. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for leading our collections department and driving business growth through effective debt recovery strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and guidance to the collections team, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to achieve their goals.
  • Collections Management: Develop and implement effective collections strategies to maximize recovery rates and minimize bad debt.
  • Client Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure the collections team has the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
  • Compliance: Ensure all collections activities are conducted in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, including the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) and Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) guidelines.
  • Client Relations and Marketing: Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the collections team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior collections role, preferably in the mercantile space.
  • Proven track record of success in leading high-performing collections teams.
  • Strong understanding of ACCC/ASIC guidelines, the Privacy Act, and the National Consumer Protection Act 2009.
  • Ability to work within ISO frameworks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
